Richard Schwahn, DVM
Chief of Staff
Dr. Schwahn joined the practice in 1999 and became a partner/owner in 2001. He took over full ownership in 2011, and in recognition of this new chapter in the life of the practice, changed the name to Altitude Veterinary Hospital, in the fall of 2012. The name is a reflection of the higher level of care that Dr. Schwahn and his team strive to provide each day.
The team at Altitude values continuing education and training, to better provide the services sought after by our community. Dr. Schwahn’s special interests include TPLO’s (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) for cruciate tears, fracture repairs, and pain management. He is an active member of the Rotary Club of Casper, and volunteers on Rotary’s Youth Exchange Committee.
Dr. Schwahn and his wife Michelle have two children, a daughter-in-law, and a spunky granddaughter, along with 8 host children from around the world that they enjoy immensely. Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, Dr. Schwahn is a fan of all things Husker, especially football. Other favorite activities include yoga, home brewing, golf, and spending time with family and friends, including his two furry friends, Molly and Mathilde.
