TPLO Surgery
TPLO is short for Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy. At Altitude Veterinary Hospital, it is the recommended treatment of choice for cranial cruciate rupture —commonly known in humans as an anterior cruciate tear, or ACL. Other procedures have their place, but for ACL repairs, many board-certified orthopedic surgeons prefer and recommend the TPLO.
Signs of an ACL Tear
The most likely signs you will notice when your pet tears its cruciate ligament are pain and limping. When there is long-term instability, arthritis sets in and causes chronic pain.
The TPLO surgery stabilizes the knee and, along with pain relief management, enables your pet to get back to a normal life. Our team has pursued the proper training, equipment, and experience to give us the means to treat the dog's #1 rear leg injury, preventing time-consuming and costly trips, and keeping your care local.
